http://tourvideos.com/ Along the Lisbon waterfront are the two most famous monuments in Belem which stand as symbols of Portugal’s 16th century naval voyages: The Tower of Belem and the Monument to the Discoveries. To understand the history of Portugal, we need to consider their spectacular maritime discoveries 500 years ago. Vasco da Gama was the first to sail around Africa and discover the ocean route to Asia, opening up a vast trade network that made Portugal rich. Pedro Cabral discovered Brazil in 1500, which Portugal claimed as their largest colony, and Portuguese navigators were the first to sail to China, in 1542. After the initial Portuguese discoveries other European countries joined in the hunt for colonies and the world would never be the same again. This was the beginni...
We headed to Lisbon Portugal for a quick stop over on our way to Italy. We only had 2.5 days in Lisbon and we didnt waste any time getting to know the city. We spent the day checking out local landmarks such as the harbor, Rossio Square, the street cars, Christo Rei, and much more. We quickly fell in love with Lisbon. The city is vibrant, with rich history. If you are on the fence about visiting Lisbon Portugal, just go. You will not regret it. We have been informed several times that this video has some misinformation in it and we would like to correct it. Lisbon is not technically on the ocean. When I reference the ocean in the video I am in fact talking about the Rio Tejo Tagus, a river that empties into the Atlantic Ocean about 13 miles away from Lisbon.

http://bookinghunter.com Lisbon is the capital city and largest city of Portugal. Lisbon is the westernmost large city located in Europe, as well as its westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast. It lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the Tagus River. The most important places to visit in Lisbon are: Jeronimo's Monastery (this is one attraction you must not miss in Lisbon. Constructed in the 16th century, it's simply an amazing site), Pena Palace (located in the town of Sintra, close to Lisbon, among the world's most beautiful palaces. A fine example of Portuguese architecture), Belem Tower (a 16th century UNESCO world heritage site. Initially a fortress to protect the city, it symbolizes the Age of Discoveries), Commerce Square (a gra...
Travel video about destination Lisbon in Portugal. Lisbon is a white city located on Portugal’s River Tejo and is flamboyantly beautiful and full of melancholy, and also lively and bursting with colourful joie de vivre. The Praca Dom Pedro is more commonly known as the Rossio. At the northern end of the square is a former palace that has been transformed into a national theatre. The main square was once the setting of bull fights and up until 1820 and the Spanish Inquisition so called heretics were burned at the stake. The medieval Sé Patriacal Cathedral stands defiantly on a hillside. Following the Christian conquest the city’s bishops’ church was built on the foundations of a former mosque to commemorate victory over the Moors. On the city’s highest hill is the marvellous Castelo De Sao J...

Spread across steep hillsides that overlook the Rio Tejo, Lisbon offers all the delights you’d expect of Portugal’s star attraction, yet with half the fuss of other European capitals. Gothic cathedrals, majestic monasteries and quaint museums are all part of the colourful cityscape, but the real delights of discovery lie in wandering the narrow lanes of Lisbon’s lovely backstreets. As bright yellow trams wind their way through curvy tree-lined streets, Lisboêtas stroll through the old quarters, much as they’ve done for centuries. Village-life gossip in old Alfama is exchanged at the public baths or over fresh bread and wine at tiny patio restaurants as fadistas (proponents of fado, Portugal’s traditional melancholic singing) perform in the background. Meanwhile, in other parts of town, v...

This is a short out and back ride on a stretch of the East Coast Greenway, a paved trail dedicated to cycling, running and walking. Nice wooded trail with views of the Androscoggin river. The trail has some rolling hills, the elevation map is a little deceiving as the rolls are only slight overall changes in elevation. Parking is located at the start of the trail at a public boat launch. There are also picnic tables if you want to stay and have lunch. If you like this course and want to ride it yourself, full details are available at Map My Ride. Travel video about destination Copenhagen in Denmark. Copenhagen is the capital of the Kingdom of Denmark and is situated on the east coast of Sæland Island on the Öresund, the link between the North Sea and the Baltic. It is a European capital of culture, home country of the Little Mermaid and a successful combination of Scandinavian elegance and Middle-European joie de vivre. In 1167, Bishop Absalon of Roskilde was granted by King Valdemar I an area of land on Öresund, to which the small settlement of Havn also belonged. For the protection of both fishermen and traders, he built a fortress and the settlement developed into Kobenhavn, the Harbor of Merchants. Copenhagen was born and the fortress was continuously enlarged until in 1376, a castle was built on its foundation. The huge Chri...
